Burberry Goddess Eau de Parfum Review: Is It Worth It?

If you’ve been scrolling through Instagram or walking past a Sephora recently, you’ve probably seen that elegant gold bottle. Burberry Goddess Eau de Parfum has been everywhere, and for good reason. As someone who has tested (and often been disappointed by) “vanilla” perfumes, I was curious. Is Goddess truly divine? Or just another overpriced designer perfume?

I’ve been wearing this for a week now through humid afternoons, AC’d offices and here’s my honest, no-BS review for my fellow fragrance lovers.

First Impressions: The Bottle & Vibe

Let’s start with the packaging because, let’s be real, half the joy of a luxury perfume is how it looks on your vanity. Burberry Goddess comes in a heavy, square glass bottle with clean lines, a soft golden hue, and a gold medallion that screams heritage. It feels substantial, not cheap or plasticky. And yes, it’s refillable, which is a huge plus for anyone who hates throwing away beautiful bottles (or wants to save some money in the long run).

The outer box is equally chic, pale pink with gold accents. If you’re buying this as a gift for someone, you won’t need extra wrapping. It’s already a stunner.

What Does Burberry Goddess Smell Like? (A Breakdown)

The perfumer behind this is Amandine Clerc-Marie, and she did something smart here: she built the fragrance around three different types of vanilla.

Top Notes (first 10-15 minutes):
I was surprised by how fresh the opening is. There’s a beautiful lavender note, not the sharp, medicinal kind, but soft and aromatic. Alongside it, a touch of ginger and cacao gives a subtle spicy, almost nutty warmth. It’s unusual and intriguing.

Heart Notes (the next hour):
This is where the magic happens. The vanilla comes through as a creamy, smooth, almost custard-like sweetness. It feels rich but not sticky. Think of the best vanilla ice cream you’ve ever had, but with a sophisticated edge.

Base Notes (the dry-down):
After a couple of hours, you get vanilla absolute, deep, woody, sensual. The lavender peeks back in softly, creating a warm, cozy, skin-like scent. It’s comforting without being childish. I’d describe it as a hug in a bottle.

Overall, this is an aromatic gourmand. It’s sweet but grown-up. It’s fresh but warm.

Performance: Longevity, Projection & Climate Suitability

Let’s talk about what really matters for us – how long a perfume lasts before disappearing.

Longevity: On my skin Burberry Goddess lasts a solid 6–7 hours with good presence. When I come back from my office, my husband can still smell it :D. On clothes, I could still smell it the next morning. For an EDP, that’s respectable.

Projection: Moderate. This is not a “beast mode” fragrance. It won’t fill a room, but it creates a lovely personal bubble. People sitting next to you at dinner or in a car will notice it. In the humid Indian weather, that’s actually a blessing; strong perfumes can get overwhelming. Goddess stays elegant.

Best season to wear: All year round, surprisingly. The lavender and ginger keep it fresh enough for summer, while the vanilla depth works beautifully in winter. I’d say it’s a perfect office scent and a great date night choice.

Price in India: Is It Worth Your Rupees?

Now, the part everyone cares about. Burberry Goddess is positioned as a premium designer fragrance. Here’s what you can expect to pay (as of May 2026): The 50 ml EDP bottle retails for around Rs 6800. There are 10 ml/30 ml travel-friendly versions, too.

Worth the retail price? Honestly… yes, but only if you truly love the scent and will use it regularly. It’s not a blind-buy cheapie. There is an intense version too, but it was too much for my nose. However, the refillable bottle means future refills cost less, so the long-term value is decent.

Compared to other vanilla fragrances, Goddess holds its own. It’s refined and less syrupy than many alternatives.

Who Should Buy Burberry Goddess?

You’ll love this if:

  • You like vanilla but want something more sophisticated than a body spray.
  • You enjoy lavender + vanilla combinations
  • You need a versatile signature scent for work, casual, and evening.
  • You appreciate moderate, elegant projection, not loud statements.

You can skip this if:

  • You prefer loud, “beast mode” perfumes with massive sillage.
  • You strongly dislike lavender or any herbal notes.

Final Verdict: A Modern Vanilla Classic

Burberry Goddess surprised me. It’s not revolutionary, we’ve seen lavender-vanilla before, but it’s executed beautifully. The three-vanilla accord gives it depth and longevity, while the lavender keeps it fresh and wearable even in Indian heat. It feels confident, warm, and quietly luxurious.

Rating: 8/10
Performance: 8/10 | Scent: 8/10

Bottom line: If you can get it from duty-free or during a sale, go for it. If you pay full MRP, make sure you’ve tried it on your skin first. Either way, Goddess is a worthy addition to any collection that appreciates elegant, modern vanillas.

The Zesty Classic: Review of Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin Cologne

Some fragrances try too hard. This one doesn’t. Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin is bright, clean, and surprisingly easy to wear. It’s been a favourite for years, but it still feels modern. Let’s talk about why it works so well.

First Impressions: The “Punch in the Face” (In a Good Way)

The first spritz of this cologne is honestly an experience. It opens with a burst of zesty lime that is so realistic, it’s like you just sliced the fruit open yourself. It’s not a sweet, candy-like lime; it’s tart, fresh, and incredibly invigorating.

But just as your brain registers “Hey, this is a nice citrus scent,” the heart notes kick in. That’s where the basil comes into play.

The basil adds an herbaceous, almost peppery twist that stops the fragrance from being a one-note wonder. It adds a “green” quality that feels like walking through an herb garden after a rainstorm. It’s unexpected, but it’s what makes this scent so unique.

The Scent Profile: A Fragrance Pyramid

To break it down a little further, here is how the magic happens:

  • Top Notes (The Opening): Lime, Mandarin Orange, and Bergamot. It’s a bright, sunny start.
  • Heart Notes (The Middle): Basil, Neroli, and Petitgrain. This is the “green” heart that gives the scent its character.
  • Base Notes (The Dry Down): Vetiver and Cedarwood. As the citrus fades, a warm, woody anchor emerges. This prevents the scent from disappearing immediately and gives it a sophisticated finish.

The Wearability: Who Is This For?

This is what I love most about it: it’s incredibly unisex. It is the definition of a mood booster. On a humid summer day, it cuts through the heat perfectly. In the spring, it pairs beautifully with the blooming flowers. While it’s marketed as a cologne, it leans slightly more towards a daytime, casual, or even office-friendly scent. It doesn’t scream for attention, but it creates a lovely aura around you.

The “Jo Malone” Factor: Longevity and Sillage

Okay, let’s address the elephant in the room. Jo Malone fragrances are famously marketed as “Colognes” and are designed to be layered. This means they aren’t going to have the beast-mode projection of a heavy designer perfume.

  • Longevity: On my skin, I get about 2 to 3 hours before it becomes a very intimate skin scent. If you want it to last all day, you’ll need to spray on clothes or reapply.
  • Sillage (Projection): It sits close to the skin. People will smell you when they hug you, but you won’t walk into a room and announce your presence five minutes before you enter.

Tip: If you buy this, look into the “layering” concept. Lime Basil & Mandarin pairs beautifully with Jo Malone’s Wood Sage & Sea Salt (for a herby marine vibe) or with their English Pear & Freesia. I have reviewed these two colognes in the past. Do, check them out!

The Packaging

It comes in the classic Jo Malone box, cream and sleek with a simple black ribbon. The bottle is heavy, minimalist, and looks stunning on a vanity. It feels like a luxury item before you even spray it.

The Final Verdict: Should You Buy It?

Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Buy this if:

  • You love fresh, citrusy, and herbal scents.
  • You want a signature daytime scent that is uplifting.
  • You appreciate unisex fragrances.
  • You enjoy the idea of layering scents to create something custom.

Skip this if:

  • You need a fragrance that lasts 8+ hours without reapplying.
  • You prefer sweet, gourmand (vanilla/caramel) scents.
  • You like heavy, dark, or winter-specific perfumes.

In Conclusion

Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin has earned its “cult classic” status for a reason. It’s a happy scent. It’s clean without smelling like soap, and it’s green without smelling like grass.

It’s the fragrance equivalent of putting on a crisp white shirt and jeans, simple, classic, and always appropriate.

Chanel N°5 Eau De Parfum Spray – Review

After nearly a year of silence, my blog’s cursor blinks back at me like an old friend. Life happened, time slipped, but the words never really left me. So, here I am with my reviews on a few cool products I tried. Hope you are going to like it 🙂

Background & Legacy

Chanel No. 5 is not just a perfume — it’s a cultural icon. Launched in 1921 by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel and perfumer Ernest Beaux, it was the first fragrance to bear a designer’s name. Its revolutionary use of aldehydes and abstract floral notes broke away from the traditional single-flower scents of the time. With endorsements by legends like Marilyn Monroe, who famously claimed to wear “nothing but Chanel No. 5 to bed”, it has solidified its place as the epitome of luxury and timelessness.

Chanel No. 5 EDP Review

Scent Profile

Top Notes:

  • Aldehydes
  • Neroli
  • Ylang-Ylang
  • Bergamot
  • Lemon

The opening is instantly recognizable: sparkling, soapy aldehydes that create a clean, effervescent impression — almost like champagne bubbles. The citrus adds freshness, while the ylang-ylang contributes a slightly spicy floral touch.

Heart Notes:

  • Iris
  • Jasmine
  • Rose
  • Lily of the Valley

The heart is undeniably floral, with a rich, velvety blend. Jasmine from Grasse — specially cultivated for Chanel — stands out, along with powdery iris and the romantic softness of rose. This bouquet is abstract, meaning no one flower dominates; instead, they blend into something luxurious and harmonious.

Base Notes:

  • Sandalwood
  • Vetiver
  • Vanilla
  • Amber
  • Musk
  • Patchouli

The dry-down is warm, sensual, and elegant. The creamy sandalwood and vanillic amber give it depth and staying power, while the vetiver and musk ground it. It evolves over time from fresh and bright to a powdery, warm skin scent that lingers beautifully.

Chanel No 5 EDP Review

Longevity: ★★★★☆

Chanel No. 5 EDP typically lasts almost 8 hours on my skin, sometimes more. I have not tried the EDT but I think the Parfum version has even better longevity and sillage.

Projection/Sillage: ★★★★☆

Moderate to strong in the first few hours. It leaves a noticeable but sophisticated trail — assertive, but never cloying or aggressive.

Packaging: ★★★★★

The bottle is a masterpiece of minimalist design: rectangular, clean lines, and an elegant typeface. It reflects Coco Chanel’s philosophy of simplicity and class. The weight of the glass add to its luxury feel.

When & Where to Wear:

  • Occasions: Formal events, evenings, romantic dates, professional settings
  • Season: Year-round, though the richness shines best in fall/winter or cooler spring evenings
  • Mood: Sophisticated, classic, confident

Chanel No. 5 is not a casual or playful scent — it’s commanding, refined, and best suited for occasions where you want to feel polished and empowered.

Price & Quantity:

It is available on Nykaa and on the official Chanel website. In India it is retailing for Rs 11950 and Rs 16750 for a 50 ml and 100 ml bottle respectively.

Who Is It For?

While traditionally marketed toward mature women, Chanel No. 5 can be worn by anyone who appreciates classic, floral-aldehydic compositions. It is not a youthful, trendy scent — it’s for those who appreciate heritage, artistry, and elegance in perfumery. So, if you are under 30, I would not recommend this.

Pros

  • Iconic and historically significant
  • Complex, layered composition
  • Long-lasting and refined
  • Luxurious bottle and packaging
  • A statement of class and confidence

Cons

  • Not for everyone: can feel “old-fashioned” to some due to aldehydes
  • Pricey, especially in Parfum concentration
  • May clash with very casual settings
  • Over-application can be overwhelming

Final Verdict: 8/10

Chanel No. 5 is a masterpiece of modern perfumery. It’s timeless, elegant, and daring in its structure — a bold olfactory abstraction that changed the perfume industry forever. While it might not be love at first sniff for everyone, it’s a fragrance that grows on you with age and appreciation. Owning a bottle feels like owning a piece of fashion and cultural history.
